Quick Favorites Round-up

FoodPlusFizz favorites of the moment:

1.  Tulip Noir Cafe for brunch. The menu is always fresh and exciting. The only thing that is a little sad is that you can't get too attached to anything. Tea enthusiasts, you will be delighted to know there is an entire page of whole tea offerings with excellent, modern tea service.

2. Mary's Gone Crackers. Completely polarizing, this "love it or hate it" cracker is gluten free, ridiculously crunchy, and phenomenal with a sharp cheese of hummus. Chock-full of seeds, nuts, and all sorts of other things, they are very healthy. My brother (on the "hate" side of the fence) calls them "bird-seed crackers." Fair enough, but I think they are awesome. If nothing else, they start a good conversation!

3. Broccoli slaw (pre-cut and bagged in the produce sections). This is such a cheat for a vegetable or side dish at dinner time. Just throw together any vinaigrette, and voila! You have a healthy, crunchy side dish. You can also make it hours in advance. My favorite is adding slivered almonds and sesame-ginger vinaigrette.

4. Trader Joe's Jasmine Green Tea. I love all tea, and basically TJ's whole tea section, but this is my staple. It's flowery and just a bit (naturally) sweet. Add nothing because it is perfect on it's own.

5. Trader Joe's Pretzel Croissants. Holy cow! This is an amazing combination. It brilliantly captures all of the flavor of a freshly baked pretzel with the buttery, flaky texture of a fluffy croissant. I'm a little worried this may become a bad, bad habit. Until then I will continue to indulge!

6. Gruner Veltliner. This white wine varietal from Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic is incredibly food friendly. Read about the varietal's specifics here. Love Over Money's Green Eyes is my favorite version right now, but there are many good ones at a reasonable price point. This wine has spring and summer patio sipping all over it! **I discovered this one at Noah Grant's Grill House and Oyster Bar in Zionsville. Thank you Shari Jenkins for your amazing wine list!
